Day 2 - Accounting Student Conference

Day 2

I woke up at 6.30 am and went for breakfast at 7.20.
then we have to go to Dewan Kuliah B for talk session.

The first speaker is Mr Shamsun Anwar Hussain - Director Product Mgmt , CIMB Islamic Bank berhad.

He talk about riba or interest in Islamic perspective in banking. am very interested in one of the topic called Riba Duyun and Buyu. Hope i will learned more this topic in future.

The second speaker is CEO of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).

he is CEO of Iskandar. did anyone knows about Iskandar? its located at Johor Bahru and still under construction and will be completed approximately in 2012. now i believe that on ly the paranoid survive. therefore, as an accountant we must always bear in mind that anything can happened in terms of economic conditions. thus, prepared and get ready for changes future accountant..!

Next speaker is Mr Michael Reyes, CEO Money Tree Asia Pacific Ltd.

Does anyone heard about this Money Tree? i do..! Money Tree provide consultancy and advisory for business planning. Recently, my faculty hd send 4students from UITM Shah Alam to the competition name Young Entrepreneur StartUp Challenge, and they managed to get a place.. Top 5 weh! they compete with Taylors,KDU, and all IPTA and IPTS in Malaysia. After a talk from Mr Michael, i realize that degree is only a ticket for interviews, but not passport for the jobs. when it comes for interview, u must convince the interviewer that u are the one that they are searching for..!go go go...! must work hard peeps!

Next speaker is Ms Salika Suksuwan, Head of Recruitment, Pricewaterhouse Coopers

she is basically guide us how to write a resume, cover letter as well as attending interviews. In writing a resume we must remember that when it comes to work experience and academic qualification we must write in reverse chronological which means from recent to past. Ghahaha...remember that people..! or else the employer would throw ur resume in their paper shredder..>!! kihkikhihk


After the long of motivation, talks session, we have a group activities ..! guess what? the facilitator provide us about 30 pcs name card for each participants. then we can exchange the name cards for the networking purposes. this is not what i expected for, and it was a really good idea..!!!


There is also a few booth open by the exhibitor, like CPA Australia, ACCA, ICAEW. CIMA and etc

a few goodies bag from exhibitor. CPA plz give me scholarship. Tq

For the night activities, we went to Auditorium SIRIM for opening ceremony. it was officiated by UITM Pro Chancellor , Tan Sri Arshad Ayub. And all the VVIP's like my beloved Vice Chancellor (dont forget to reply my comment at Facebook ok), Dean of Faculty of Accountancy , Presiden of MIA and etc. i remembered one of the line that Tan Sri said, in accounting field, we must pursue a professional course like ACCA, CPA, MICPA, CIMA and etc , degree is not enough.! serious???? o_O im in trouble...!
